Pre-Primary Music and Movement Curriculum (Ages 4-6)
Program description
PROGRAM GOAL
My Early Childhood Music and Movement Program is designed to nurture fundamental musical skills, creativity and expressive confidence in children aged 5-6 through a carefully structured and developmentally informed approach.
The program integrates singing, movement, listening, playing kids musical instruments, rhythm, basic knowledge about music theory and creative exploration to support the holistic development of each child – musically, cognitively, physically, emotionally, and socially. Learning takes place in an engaging, play-based environment where children actively participate in music-making, collaboration and imaginative discovery.
Grounded in established early childhood music pedagogy, the curriculum follows a sequential progression from sensory musical experiences towards a sequential progression from sensory musical experiences toward increased musical awareness, ensemble skills, and early elements of musical understanding.
Particular attention has been given to accessibility and language support. All repertoire, instructional materials, and classroom resources are intentionally selected in the English language to support children for whom English is not a first language. Musical activities reinforce vocabulary development, listening comprehension, pronunciation, and confidence in communication through repetition, movement, and contextual learning.
Through guided exploration and structured musical experiences, children develop pitch awareness, rhythmic stability, coordination, expressive movement, and the ability to participate in group music-making. The program encourages curiosity, independence, and creativity initiative while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
This program provides a strong foundation for future musical study while also supporting broader developmental outcomes, including attention, memory, self-regulation, social interaction, and early language development.
